Head Start in the Franklin Pierce School District

Welcome!

Head Start is a federally funded FREE preschool program for 3 and 4 year old children and their families. Families must qualify as low income according to federal guidelines. There are part day and full day programs within the Franklin Pierce School District.

Children learn social, physical, emotional and pre academic skills to prepare them for the kindergarten experience. Meals and transportation are provided.

Interpreters are available for non English speaking families for the enrollment process, staff visits, classroom, and parent trainings.

Part Day Program--Head Start has moved!

The part day Head Start Program is FREE but families must qualify as low income. The part day program is located at 215 166th St. S., Spanaway, 98387. (in the old Spanaway Elementary School). Phone is still (253) 298-4675. The office is open from 8:00-4:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (by appointment on Wednesdays from 8:00-4:00).

There are four AM classes and four PM classes. Classes are assigned based on where a family lives in the district. Meals and busing are provided. AM class meets from 8:30-12:00 and PM class meets from 12:00-3:30 Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays (no class Wednesdays). Classes follow Franklin Pierce School District calendar.

Full Day Programs

Within the school district boundaries is one full day Head Start program, Midland’s Kiddie Korral (548-2182). FEES ARE CHARGED. To qualify: Parents must be working over 20 hours a week and eligible for childcare subsidies. Parents transport children. Programs run five days a week and are year round.
